This exclusive 1st solo exhibit by photographer Waldy Martens brilliantly pays homage to the classical genre of the nude portrait, a motif that has its roots from the antiquity to our present day. Although Martens entered his artistic journey as a collaborator for Playboy magazine, the photographs featured in this exhibit take the viewer into a more private side of his vision. With a distinctive eye for mood and technical perfection he blends shadows, light and forms into a raw emotion, his images evoking a more personal experience that frees the imagination while drawing the viewer into a more intimate voyage. Waldy Martens responds to the challenges of the subject so rich in tradition with an exemplary selection of stark black and white photographs that strike a perfect balance between the private and the public.
